Oshkosh Recap
As the largest aviation event in the world, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh never disappoints. For one week each year, Oshkosh is the hottest ticket if you love all things aviation. Mustang enthusiasts in attendance were treated to some unique ScaleWings happenings that included a live SW-51 performance in the main airshow on Innovation Tuesday, which allowed those on the Flightline to hear the signature notes of the Mustang as it screamed by. The static display at the Rotax exhibit allowed every show-goer drawn toward Boeing Plaza to see Plum 51 at least twice. Also on the field was Double Trouble, flown in 1600nm from Camarillo, CA, by owner-pilot Chad, who showcased his Mustang in the main airshow. Be sure to follow Chad’s YouTube channel, where you can watch two recent videos covering his journey to the show and the airshow experience itself.

Plum 51 Makes Its Stateside Debut
Taking center stage at the Rotax booth was Plum 51, giving owner Steve his first opportunity to see his beautiful creation in the United States.
Steve also serves as an Executive Advisor to ScaleWings, bringing exceptional aviation leadership experience as the former President of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and former CEO of drone manufacturer Insitu, which was later acquired by Boeing.
Plum 51 is the first SW-51 Mustang equipped with the new, larger MT propeller, whose blade shape and proportions more closely resemble those of the original Hamilton Standard propeller fitted to the P-51. Steve selected the very latest systems and interior options for his Mustang, including a stunning mocha-colored, full-leather interior by Carlex Design and the IFR-capable Platinum Package with autopilot and a WAAS-enabled IFR navigator.
Midwest Delivery Center
As growth continues, new delivery centers are being added to provide US-based owners with more options for delivery and tail-wheel training. ScaleWings is proud to announce that Legends Aero has joined the ScaleWings team.
Legends Aero is located near the shore of Lake Erie at the Lake County Executive Airport (KLNN) just east of Cleveland, OH. Legends also offers tailwheel instruction in a Super Decathlon and can even help new owners learn basic aerobatic maneuvers to enjoy in the SW-51. Legend Aero is also the home of Lady B, a North American P-51D.
Oshkosh Fly-By Video Corner
Part of the Mustang’s mystique is its deep throaty sound. In this video, at about the 5-second mark, Christian von Kessel calls the airshow crowd to “listen to the sound signature” of the SW-51 as it screams past show center. Turn up the volume, sit back, and enjoy the music of the fabled Mustang as it flies over Oshkosh during AirVenture.

Fighter Facts
Like the P-51, the A-10 has its own signature sound – BRRRRT! When ground forces heard the thundering sound of the A-10’s 30MM GAU-8//A autocannon, they knew help was on station.
Fans of the A-10 Thunderbolt II will be pleased to know that Congress recently voted to keep the Warthog in service until 2030 (reversing an earlier mandate to decommission all remaining A-10s in FY2026). The cleverly named Bolstering Recognition, Resurgence, Retention, and Remembrance of the Thunderbolt (BRRRRT) Act gives the A-10s a brief reprieve in three US-based squadrons before its final drawdown.
